What's on this channel? Lots of stuff:
* a ton of material on media technical theory for my students at Ryerson University, about audio, video and digital media
* some weird stuff I decide to post because I think it's interesting
* once in a while, I go on a trip or an adventure that I want to tell you about
* and occasionally I post old videos that I find to share with you.
So if you want to tune in to a bit of strangeness, or if you're a technical geek, SUBSCRIBE to my channel. Thumb me on videos that you like, and comment if you have something to say.

Smart Tiles Kitchen Renovation Timelapse
A great Canadian product, Smart Tiles, allowed me to completely change the appearance of our kitchen wall in only four hours. This timelapse shows how easy it is. No need to remove the old tiles - just stick these over top of the old ones. A dramatic change! www.thesmarttiles.com

University 101, Ep. 3: Classes and Note Taking

University lectures are very different from the classes you took in high school. There's no attendance taking; no highlight sheets from the teacher; distractions during the lecture will mean you won't be able to do well in class; and you're responsible for taking all of your own notes even though there's so much information in a lecture. How do you it? Watch this video and see!

all fun and games you didnt show squat!...
I think my husband is in this video, I have to keep looking at that kid just to make sure. 🥰😍😘
I have a side gig digitizing home videos and was looking for a way to explain analog video (and why it's never going to look quite the same was digitized) to a client and this was the first one that came up, which gave me a chuckle. I had Dana as a prof while at Ryerson RTA and it's nice to hear his voice again. Not sure why so many of the good ones leave us before their time but I'm glad he left us a bunch of his knowledge.
Jaywalking on queen, that's entertainment.
Thank you so much sir for your packaged information.
Thanks for the post. Brings back a lot of memories. Bakka, silver snail, dragon lady . Many Saturday s spent going to each to buy my comics
Try to listen to "time for livin" from the beastie boys It helps if you think its an instrumental punk song hahahaha
Great video very engaging
Hello Dana Lee, Amazing video and quality! We would like to use part of this video for a student documentary at Humber College if you agree. I would like you to know that we will give you credits. And share with you the final result if you would like. Please let me know if it's okay with you. Have a great week!😃
And look at Toronto now....ugh.
What happens when you slowly adjust the syncing signals? Like when you send a video signal that is slower than usual?
I spent my 20's, 1991-1998 living and working in a rockbar called 'The Gasworks'. I had so much fun hanging on Queen st. and at 'The Bovine Sex Club'. I go back occasionally but find Toronto a very aggressive/violent city now. Everyone now-a-days are rent and mortgage broke. No one has disposable income to go out and spend on the city.
Thanks for uploading. Amazing quality video for the time. Brings back so many memory's of a great Toronto.
I would like to know about these VU Signal but to see the RF signal or how much is arriving at the receiver? And the sensitivity of, for example, whether it is uV or Mv or uAmp or Mv. I want to install it on an old radio. I appreciate any help.
Thanks 👍🏻!!
I lived there as an exchange student in 1978. What a great place. I still love it, but it looks very different these days.
Good video, but when working with a Video engineer the process will be different. The engineer controls the exposure.
I remember hearing this song like around after 3 or 4 in the morning
I miss Mark Dailey, he died way too young. Even though he was originally from Youngstown, Ohio, he was the voice of Toronto.
love this video. I played around with one, the best part is that if you wire them correctly the base and phone can transmit to each other as I discovered in my yt video on it.
✌️❤️🇫🇴🐾🕊️🦋🦋😁Lägger inte näsan i blöt.... Och sitter inte vid köks bordet och gör tecken 😁🤫🤔❤️🇫🇴🐾🕊️🦋✌️✌️✌️✌️
I need one of these but they're so expensive......
they invented this before you could just look stuff up on the internet. just like that. fascinating
Hi Can we use the drop frame timecode to sync with UTC time? Meaning instead of starting from 00:00:00;00 it will start from current UTC time 18:45:10;16
They should still do this tbh. Literally what's the big deal, you gonna be miffed someone knows you're having ricaroni for dinner?
Excellent production. I'm working with these machines now
Toronto is like the Roman Empire now. In its decay era and the hordes keep coming. Leaders sit back and watch the flames and fan them.
this is the best video on the internet
Also make sure your iris is all the way open when calibrating back focus.
Fucking arctic monkeys cornerstone sent me here
i miss when technology was so much easier to “hack.” stealing cable was so easy,, now its a lot harder since its digital now and lots more security…
well i guess you could make a copy of an active access card and stick it in another cable box…may try it out sometime.
I still have a Quad head assembly from one of our old VR2000 machines, and a length of tape with the magnetic tracks made visible with magnetic fluid and protected with varnish. Did it almost 40 years ago and the tracks are still visible.
That was succinct and straightforward.
My late Grandpa's brother is the singer. Tommy Ambrose. ❤
This would have been great to know back when I broke our living room tv in the 90s with a magnet wand.
Lot of fun drunk nights, especially upstairs at the Bev. The area ended I think when City TV relocated there from Queen St. East.
I'm so confused-- I think im gonna fail my exam cus im SO LOST
We still use the pay mover pushback truck in the video.
I'm still lost
They need to make a video like this for machine learning.
amps phone has no encryption at all
The early 1980s were the best, even up to 1990! Incomparable! "Protoronto"
One of the greatest civic anthems in the world! It was so fitting at the time when it was written 2:31
Finding this after 11 years And love it
I remember this in California. ..I would teck the Tubblers to get Channel 83....and get it to get 900mhz....I heard everything in the band .... also Ham TV.... My TV U can see and hear everything around U....it was fun back than....then I got some old UHF Radios...then did mods to them...I don't know if U can hear anything in that range because of Digital?....it would be cool if a Digital TV can be made to get these channels?
Truly a time when Toronto was the greatest big city in the world. Remember when CITY tv first aired . If we could only stopped time . Dave from Hamilton 0:28
"Cycles per second" in 1995? Hertz has been established in 1935 and adopted by CGPM in 1960. Wikipedia says that "cycles per second" was largely replaced by "Hertz" by the 1970s. Ah, at 2-minute mark I see "Hz" onscreen without explaining that it is the same as cycles per second. The formula that follows equates recording time to tape length, this is just bad math syntax, you would be marked down on your high school test. The same math silliness continues. Then you pronounce "Hertz" without introducing this unit of measure. In your playback level vs. frequency story you did not mention that the level starts to drop after a certain point. "Expressed in dB as we do in audio" - dB is just a power ratio that has no direct relation to audio. Small errors notwithstanding, this was fun to watch.
*i miss you father*
*good job, long time no see bro*
thank you! very educational reminds me of old science vids like shown in classrooms i love it
